Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk

A few weeks ago I took part in the Worldwide Photo Walk by Scott Kelby. On July 18th thousands of people from around the world walked through various cities and photographed their surroundings. I went to the walk in Tempe, AZ which was hosted by Trevor Dayley. Below are some of the images I captured during the 2 mile walk from the Tempe Arts Center down through old town Tempe on Mill Avenue.

Tempe is a city of contrast. Contrast in all the different colors, light and shadows that exist. But more, contrast in the architecture. There are so many new buildings, yet so many old run down buildings, too. I tried to capture that contrast in most of my images on the walk. My favorite is the old flour mill contrasted against the shiny new KPMG building. Another favorite is the old train bridge contrasted against the new light-rail bridge – both going across the bridge parallel to each other.

I just recently had a visit & walked some of the same paths as you. If only my eyes caught what you did. It’d be interesting to view the world the way you do :) Thanks for the peek!

The last one is a peg sticking out of a wall on the north side of the Tempe Arts Center. There is something embedded in each peg. In this one there was a piece of music. In the evenings the pegs light up and I couldn’t pass up photographing them.
