9/11 I Remember

As I left my home this morning I looked around to see how many houses had a flag out in remembrance of what happened on 9/11 and the impact that event has had on the lives of millions of people worldwide. I was disappointed to see that only 1 other house on my street had a flag out and that there were very few around town. Do people not remember? Or, do they just not care to express it? I remember where I was 8 years ago: in a cafe in Portugal, watching the news on a 13 inch TV.  Where were you? What were you doing? That day, freedom was attacked…I’m thankful for those who have fought or are now fighting to protect the freedoms we take advantage of every day.

September 19, 2009 - 2:24 pm Meesa (elsberry) Johnson - I think the way to remember 9/11 these days is to wear red not to hoist the flag. Although to do both would probably be better. I remember going to class my Freshman year only to find all my classes canceled, and spending the rest of the day in the Lobby of Chipman just crying. I thought my brother was gonna have to join in the war. Kinda freaky.

September 11, 2009 - 3:06 pm Melanie - I remember too. I was in Enid Oklahoma near Vance Air Force Base. I remember the shuttering feeling as the reality of what had happened... what WAS happening began to sink into my heart. All I could think of was the promise in The Book of Mormon that this land is a blessed, promised and protected land, and will be as long as the people remember the Lord. May we all continue to remember and not become complacent!

September 11, 2009 - 1:30 pm janet - thank you Larry, I remember where I was, too, in the family room watching the tv in shock... I watched the memorials on tv today and cried during the moments of silence and the ringing of the bells. I was glad I could ring my bell as a sign that I haven't forgotten those who paid the ultimate price eight years ago, even if no one heard it but me...
