Black and White Photography

One of my goals as a photographer is to constantly learn, grow and improve my skills. I don’t think I’ll ever be “there” because “there” is a fluid concept…it constantly changes. Something that I recently learned about myself is that I prefer to create black & white images in-camera, as much as possible. Sure, there are several ways to convert color images to black and white after the shoot but I prefer the image not be an after-thought. Creating a black & white image on purpose is more fun to me. I like hunting for the right light and contrast that make great black & whites.

That being said, here are some images that I created at sunrise a few days ago. I went out to photograph the sunrise near a fountain where we live and quickly saw the potential for some great black and white images. Enjoy!
